FAQ

General

  • I live in Toronto, Canada and I welcome clients from around the world.

  • I specialize in partnering with clients in the food business as well as lifestyle and wellness brands. These are the niches where I focus and excel in delivering tailored solutions and strategies.

  • While I specialize in food and wellness/lifestyle brands, I still want to hear from you if you think you could benefit from my services. Please fill out the inquiry form to get in touch.

  • Once you've signed the contract, we kick off the onboarding phase. This usually spans about 2-4 weeks, depending on various factors like your social media background, the number of platforms involved, any previous branding issues, and more. In this period, you'll work through the onboarding checklist, which includes tasks like filling out the client questionnaire, granting me access to your social platforms, and uploading all your media assets.

Next up, I'll carry out a social media audit to understand your brand's current status. Following that, I'll craft a tailored social media strategy that'll steer our content direction for the upcoming three months.

Once the strategy gets the green light from you, I dive into creating your content. Throughout this phase, I'll send you previews of posts and captions for your input. You'll have the chance to give feedback on individual posts and give the final thumbs-up on drafts. Once the content gets your approval, we're all set to start posting.

  • My focus lies in long-term success rather than short-lived gains. My three month commitment is essential because achieving results in social media requires time. Here's why this period is important:

Firstly, it gives me the opportunity to establish a comprehensive foundation tailored explicitly to your brand's unique voice and objectives. Crafting and implementing a custom strategy takes time. My process ensures that each action aligns seamlessly with your brand's identity and goals. By investing time in comprehending your brand, competitors, and audience, I can create a strategy that effectively serves your brand.

Moreover, social media management isn't only about posting pretty pictures; it involves crafting a storyline that connects with your audience, fostering genuine relationships that nurture community and loyalty — a process that takes time. Lastly, the three month duration allows me to gather valuable insights into what genuinely works. I continually analyze and refine my strategy to leverage the aspects that strongly resonate with your audience.

  • If you wish to terminate your contract prior to the 3-month duration, an early termination fee is applicable. The terms are as follows:

A notice period of 1 month is required.

An early termination fee equivalent to 50% of the remaining locked-in period must be paid.

Content will not be provided for the remaining locked-in period, and the contract will conclude without further content delivery.

  • Currently, I don’t offer web design services. However, if you already have a website, you can grant me admin access, and I'll be able to publish blog posts for you.

  • Payments are made through HoneyBook invoicing where you can pay via credit card, debit card, or bank transfer.

Please note, all credit card payments require a 2.9% fee with every transaction. All bank trasnfers require a 1% fee with every transaction. These fees are required to be made by the Client.

I also accept etransfer if you’d like to avoid these fees.

  • All communication is done through Asana. For formal communication, I use email.

  • Social media marketing goes beyond eye-catching posts and amassing followers. Gone are the days when you can post organic content to boost marketing efforts.

Now, it's all about the ability to connect with your target audience through a tailored strategy, guiding them from simply liking what you provide to actually needing it.

  • Developing an effective social media strategy begins with understanding your business goals, target audience, and industry. I conduct thorough research to identify your audience's preferences and behaviors, analyze your competitors, and assess the strengths and weaknesses of your current social media presence. Based on this analysis, I create a customized strategy that outlines content themes, posting schedules, advertising campaigns, and engagement tactics tailored to your specific needs and objectives.

  • Success in social media marketing is measured through key performance indicators (KPIS), such as engagement rates, follower growth, click-through rates, and conversions. I provide regular, detailed reports that outline these metrics and offer insights into the performance of your social media campaigns. My goal is to continuously improve your strategy based on data-driven insights and to ensure you achieve a positive return on investment (ROI).

  • Absolutely! Once your content is prepared, I'll share a link for you to review the posts and captions. You'll then have 48 hours to make any changes and give your approval before I schedule them on my scheduling calendar. Plus, you'll have access to your content calendar anytime to preview all your upcoming posts for the month.

  • Social media management is about handling a brand's presence on social platforms. It involves creating strategies, setting up profiles, planning posts, engaging with followers, and checking how well everything's going.

Content creation, on the other hand, is more about making the actual stuff that goes onto social media. It's about coming up with ideas for posts, making videos or images, writing blog articles, and picking out cool things to share.

In simpler terms, social media management is like taking care of the whole social media show, while content creation is one of the acts within that show – the part where you make all the fun stuff people see and engage with. Both are important for making a brand shine online!

  • Engagement consists of finding ideal clients/buyers via niche hashtags and liking, commenting, reacting to stories, and following potential leads. This also includes engaging with competitors' followers. This method uses organic engagement to attract ideal leads.

  • Your level of involvement in the content creation process is flexible and depends on your preferences. I value your input and encourage collaboration. You can be as involved as you wish, from providing content ideas and reviewing drafts to granting final approval before content goes live. I strive to strike a balance that aligns with your comfort level and ensures the content accurately represents your brand.

  • No. I focus on organic growth. By investing in me, you invest in social media growth without having to spend a dime over my services for ads.

Of course, I do offer ad marketing as an add-on service if you like.

Food & Restaurant Photography

  • No. I stick to food and restaurant photography because it lets me put all my skill and passion into this area. When I concentrate solely on food photography, I can really dive in and become an expert in things like styling, lighting, and making pictures look great. This way, I can give my clients awesome results that fit perfectly with what they need for their food and restaurant images.

  • When it comes to food photography, it's about having the right expertise. While a wedding photographer might give it a shot, food photography is a whole different ball game. It requires a unique skill set developed over time. Wedding photographers focus on capturing moments and lighting people, while food photography is about creating a vibe and texture. It's all in the details – even a tiny crumb matters! Plus, lighting in food photography is a whole different story. It's not just about getting a good exposure; it's about crafting the light from scratch to suit the food's appearance and mood. So, if you want your food to look its best, it's better to go for a specialist food photographer who knows the ins and outs of making your dishes shine visually.

  • For food photography, I typically calculate my time on a "per day" basis, along with expenses. However, I usually provide the client with an estimated price for the entire project. Food photography involves many variables, so charging "per shot" isn't feasible, and using a "per day" rate covers the time before and after the shoot, which is sometimes necessary.

  • Actually, you can call at any time to discuss any questions you might have.

These are the questions I’ll ask you to get a better understanding of your vision and to provide a better estimate:

    • What types of food will we be photographing?

    • How many shots?

    • How complex are the shots you want to do?

    • Any special kitchen equipment needed?

    • Will someone from your company be doing the cooking?

    • Will the shoot be art directed?

    • Who will be attending the shoot?

    • Will there be any unusual time needs or restraints that require overtime?

    • Location of Studio?

    • Who will be buying all the food?

  • My studio is located at my home, and while I typically don't host clients here, we can arrange for a professional studio rental if you prefer to be present during the shoot. Studio rental fees will be added to your invoice for your convenience.

  • I have a pretty good supply of food photography props in my studio that I’ve built over the years. When we chat during our consultation, we can talk about your vision for the shoot and the specific props you need. If I don't have the right props on hand, I can always buy them from my trusted suppliers, but there will be an additional cost for this service.

  • The number of dishes varies depending on the complexity of the dish. I aim to shoot about 10-12 dishes in an 8-hour indoor shoot.

  • Yes!

Food photography takes more space than most people think. Besides the camera and photographer, these are the lights, light boxes, the computer, and the food styling area. All in all, I like to dedicate at least 3m x 3m.

  • As the creator of the images, I will be the legal owner of the images and their copyright. I will be working closely with you to determine what type of use you need and make sure we setup a licensing agreement that is the most advantageous for you and covers your needs.

  • Yes. I hold on to the images for a period of two years.

  • I can do most minor retouching, such as colour correction, level adjustment, and minor repairs which will ensure all images are ready for editorial or web publishing.

If major retouching is needed, then we might need to go to a professional retoucher.

There may be times when a client needs things that I am not just capable of doing. A retoucher is a highly skilled individual that has the skills of an illustrator and is worth investing in for advertisement-level results.

  • I completely understand my clients’ concern about food wastage, and I appreciate their mindfulness. The food used during the photoshoot may undergo various processes that could make it unsuitable for consumption, so I generally recommend disposing of all the food.
